Cardinals-Vikings Flexed To Prime Time

NBC takes Dec. 6 matchup in Glendale for Sunday Night Football

The Cardinals and Vikings will face off on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" Dec. 6.

The Cardinals are being flexed.

In a move long anticipated, the Cardinals’ home game against the surging Minnesota Vikings Dec. 6 at University of Phoenix Stadium is being moved to NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” it was announced Tuesday. The network has the right to move a game not protected by CBS or Fox into the time slot if they deem it better than the originally scheduled matchup.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:20 p.m.

In this case, the original game was New England at Miami. But with the Cardinals sporting a 7-3 record and the Vikings at 9-1 – plus the Brett Favre versus Kurt Warner factor – NBC decided to go with a new angle.

Fox, which was originally supposed to air Minnesota-Arizona, had already protected Dallas versus the Giants.

The Cards-Vikings game was supposed to kick off at 2:15 p.m. Arizona time.

It will be the third appearance on “SNF” this season for the Cardinals, who lost, 31-10, to Indianapolis at home and then beat the Giants on the road, 24-17.

The Cardinals also will play “Monday Night Football” on ESPN Dec. 14 in San Francisco, making it the first time in franchise history the team will play in back-to-back nationally televised contests.

The Cardinals also were on ESPN’s preseason opener in Pittsburgh this season.
