SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Last time out: Cardinals 20, 49ers 10

Record: 0-9 overall, 0-5 in the division

Snapshot: Rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard was under pressure for most of the contest as the San Francisco offense struggled to put points on the board. He was sacked five times and hit 16 times. The 49ers had 329 yards of total offense but turned the ball over twice.

Notable: Running back Carlos Hyde was ejected in the fourth quarter during a skirmish with Cardinals defensive lineman Frostee Rucker. Cardinals outside linebacker Haason Reddick was also ejected. New quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, acquired in a trade with the Patriots earlier in the week, was in uniform but didn't play.

Quotable: "In the middle of a game your adrenaline is kind of going. So, it's not until tonight, tomorrow, I really feel those hits. Physically, sometimes some are worse than others. Sometimes they hurt. Sometimes they don't." – Beathard, after the game, on taking so many hits.

Injury Update:Safety Jaquiski Tartt (wrist), wide receiver Trent Taylor (rib) and fullback Kyle Juszczyk (neck) all left the game with injuries, further depleting an undermanned San Francisco roster.

Next up: The 49ers will host the Giants in Week 10.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Last time out: Washington 17, 14

Record: 5-3 overall, 2-0 in the division

Snapshot: Redskins running back Rob Kelley scored from a yard out with under a minute remaining to stun the Seahawks. A week after the Seattle offense exploded in a shootout win over the Texans, it struggled to score in this one. The Seahawks amassed 437 yards of total offense but had only two points heading into the fourth quarter.

Notable: Seahawks kicker Blair Walsh missed three field goals in the first half. Linebacker Bobby Wagner sacked Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins in the end zone for a safety midway through the first quarter. The Seahawks dropped a game behind the streaking Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West with the loss.

Quotable: "We made this so hard on ourselves. All of the things that happened when you lost a game showed up." – coach Pete Carroll, via Seahawks.com, after the mistake-riddled affair.

Injury Update:Safety Earl Thomas (hamstring) and defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson (oblique) were inactive, while running back Eddie Lacy injured his groin in the first quarter and didn't return.

Next up: The Seahawks travel to face the Cardinals in Week 10 on "Thursday Night Football."
