
With the quarterback position in flux for the Cardinals, the team made a move to bring in another option Monday when they picked up Brian Hoyer on waivers.
The roster move was created by putting center
Hoyer, just released by the Steelers after spending the past three seasons with the Patriots, probably wouldn’t be ready to play against the Lions. But the Cards could try to get him ready to play in the final two games of the season and give him a test drive going into 2013.

“You’ve got to look at all options (at quarterback),” Whisenhunt said before Hoyer was obtained. “I don’t know what’s going to be available via draft or free agency, but those are all things you have to look at.
“There’s no question that’s something that has to be looked at and addressed. We tried to, and continue to try to. The play from that position this year hasn’t been good enough or consistent enough and that’s an important part of it.”
In 13 NFL appearances – all with New England – Hoyer has completed 27 of 43 passes for 286 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
