Cardinals Make Round Of Cuts

Posted Aug 25, 2013

Kicker Carpenter among the players released as team tries to get to 75-man limit

Kicker Dan Carpenter has his field-goal attempt blocked Saturday night.

The kicking competition didn’t last long.

After Dan Carpenter’s one and only field goal attempt was blocked Saturday night against the Chargers, the Cardinals cut the kicker they just signed last week, leaving Jay Feely in place with the job he’s held since 2010.

Carpenter was one of 11 roster moves the Cardinals made Sunday as they move to get their roster down to the required 75 by Tuesday’s deadline. As of now, they still must make one more move. There has been no decision yet made on the status of injured guard Jonathan Cooper, who broke his leg in the game and could be out for the season.

Aside from Carpenter, the release list included:

-- WR Nick Edwards

-- G Deveric Gallington

-- DT Jonathan Mathis

-- ILB Korey Jones

-- DE Cordian Hagans

-- CB Ronnie Yell

-- T Joe Caprioglio

-- WR Jarett Dillard

-- QB Caleb TerBush

The Cardinals also put OLB Dan Giordano on the reserve physically unable to perform list.
