Another stellar performance against the Giants on Sunday has Tramon Williams sitting with a Pro Football Focus grade of 88.1 on the season, which ranks him No. 9 among all NFL cornerbacks.

Williams was inserted into the starting lineup in Week 7, and it doesn’t seem like a coincidence that the Cardinals’ defense fortified in the ensuing weeks.

The PFF grades don’t factor in opponent skill level, so Williams does get a boost because he’s often on the No. 2 receiver while Patrick Peterson follows around the top one. Even so, his play has been fantastic, as Williams’ style has meshed well with an aggressive defensive scheme that expects a lot out of its cornerbacks.

Against New York, Williams allowed six of 13 targets to be completed for 51 yards, which computed to a 56.9 passer rating.

General Manager Steve Keim let cornerback Marcus Cooper walk this offseason, as he signed a 3-year, $16 million deal with the Bears. That restraint proved to be the correct decision, as Williams has done a phenomenal job at a fraction of the cost.
