Biography

Pro Career: Originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick (17th overall) of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2013 NFL Draft. Signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals as an unrestricted free agent on 3/14/17.

2016: Played in 14 games (nine starts) and equaled career high with 42 tackles … also had one sack, one INT, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery … recorded his second career INT when he picked off a tipped Alex Smith pass and returned it 20 yards to set up a TD on the next play vs. KC (10/2) … posted a season-high seven tackles vs. NE (10/23); forced and recovered a Chris Hogan fumble on Patriots first play from scrimmage … DNP @ Cin (12/18) and inactive vs. Bal (12/25) … collected his first sack of the season vs. Cle (1/1/17); forced Isaiah Crowell fumble that Mike Mitchell recovered with Cleveland inside the 5-yard line and the game tied in the fourth quarter … had one tackle and one special teams tackle in Wild Card game vs. Mia (1/8/17) … notched one special teams tackle in Divisional Playoff @ KC (1/15/17) … assisted on three tackles in AFC Championship Game @ NE (1/22/17).

College: Appeared in 34 career games (eight at USC in 2009 and 26 at Georgia from 2011-12) … started all 26 games in two seasons with Georgia, recording 155 tackles, 45.5 tackles for loss, 28 sacks, 88 QB pressures, one INT, five passes defensed, nine forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries … his 28 sacks tied Jimmy Payne (1978-82) for third-most in school history … earned First-Team All-American honors and was a unanimous first-team All-SEC choice both years at Georgia … also was a finalist for the Lombardi Trophy, Butkus Award, Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy in 2012 … began college career at USC in 2009, but suffered neck injury late in his freshman season and transferred to Georgia in 2010.

Personal: Attended George Washington Carver (Columbus, GA) High School where he was a Super Prep, Prep Star, USA Today and ESPN All-American in 2008 … played in the U.S. Army All-American Game … also was named to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Super 11, earned All-State Class AAA first-team honors and was the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer’s All-City Defensive MVP as a senior … recorded 77 tackles, four tackles for loss, four INTs and two forced fumble despite missing four games late in the season with a broken thumb … named Rivals.com First-Team All-American as a junior after posting 157 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, four sacks and two sacks … helped team win the 2007 state AAA title … also lettered in basketball and earned All-State honors in 2008 … attended same high school at Cardinals defensive line coach Brentson Buckner … has one daughter, Maleah.
