Biography

NoteCARDS:

• The Cardinals first round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft and the 13th overall pick; was the second wide receiver taken behind Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon (5th overall to Jacksonville). Became the first Notre Dame WR taken in the first round since Heisman Trophy winner Tim Brown was selected sixth overall by the Raiders in 1988.

• Had a breakout year in his second NFL season, hauling in 65 receptions for 1,041 yards and five TDs in 2013. He became the 12th different player in franchise history to record 1,000 receiving yards in a season.

• Posted six receptions for 193 yards against the Jaguars in Week 11 of the ’13 season, including a 91-yard TD reception in the third quarter. His 193 yards represent the seventh-best single game total in franchise history and the most since Anquan Boldin recorded 217 yards on 10 receptions at Detroit on 9/7/03.

• Averaged 32.16 yards per reception in the game against the Jaguars. In the last 23 years (since 1990), only seven NFL players averaged more yards per reception (min. six rec.) in a game.

• Hauled in his first career game-winning catch in Week 16 of the ’13 season at Seattle. His lone reception of the game was a spectacular 31-yard TD catch late in the fourth quarter which snapped the Seahawks NFL-best 14-game home win streak.

• Had five TD catches over the final 11 games of ’13, after totaling two TD receptions in his first 21 career games.

• Between Weeks 10-16 of the ’13 season, had 25 consecutive receptions for first downs, which was the longest active streak in the NFL before it was snapped with his first catch in the season finale. Of his final 34 receptions in 2013, 30 accounted for first downs.

• Has appeared in all 32 games (19 starts) in his first two NFL seasons. Started all 16 games in 2013.

• His 166 receiving yards in the Week 17 finale at San Francisco in 2012 marked the highest total for a Cardinals rookie since Anquan Boldin totaled 217 yards on 9/7/03 at Detroit. It also tied for the fourth-best single-game total by a rookie in franchise history.

• First career NFL reception was an eight-yard TD catch against Philadelphia in Week 3 of the ’12 season. First career college reception was a 22-yard TD catch against San Diego State in 2008.

• Grew up in St. Paul, MN and attended Cretin-Derham Hall High School, which is less than 10 miles from Larry Fitzgerald’s prep alma mater, Academy of the Holy Angels, in Minneapolis. Both were All-State and All-American WRs during their prep career, and they became friends while Floyd attended Cretin-Derham.
