Originally drafted by Washington in the seventh round (222nd overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft, Broughton played in four games as a rookie. Released by Washington on 9/12/06 and re-signed to the practice squad on 9/14/06. Re-signed to Redskins active roster on 12/23/06 and played in the final two games of the season. Spent the 2007 season on Redskins injured reserve list and was on Washington’s practice squad for all of the 2008 season. Signed a future contract with the Carolina Panthers on 1/14/09 but was released on 3/13/09. Signed by Minnesota on 5/18/09 and spent preseason with the Vikings until being released on 9/5/09. Signed to the Giants practice squad on 9/7/09. Signed with Arizona on 1/5/10 and signed an exclusive rights contract with the Cards on 3/23/10.
2009: After spending the preseason with Minnesota, was released on 9/5 … signed to the Giants practice squad on 9/7 where he spent the entire regular season before signing with Arizona on 1/5/10 … inactive for the team’s two postseason contests.
2008: After spending preseason with the Redskins, was released on 8/31 … re-signed to the practice squad on 9/3 where he spent the entire season.
2007: Placed on injured reserve (knee) on 5/15.
2006: Played in final two games of the regular season … earned roster spot on 53-man roster following training camp, but was inactive for Monday night season opener vs. Min (9/11) … released on 9/12 and re-signed to the practice squad on 9/14 … signed back to the active roster on 12/23 and played in final two games of season @ StL (12/24) and @ NYG (12/30).
2005: Made the opening day roster out of training camp and played in first NFL game @ KC (11/16) where he logged five yards on a kickoff return … had only career carry @ StL (12/4) when he ran for three yards … inactive for 12 other games.

Earned first-team All-Southern Conference honors at The Citadel … started 27 of 40 career games while rushing for over 2,600 yards and 25 TDs … he joins Cardinals 2010 third-round pick Andre Roberts as the last two players drafted to the NFL from The Citadel … one of seven players drafted from the school since 1969 … joins former RBs Stump Mitchell and Travis Jervey as alums to make the NFL.
