Pro Career: Originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick (250th overall) of the Cleveland Browns in the 2016 NFL Draft. Released on 9/20/16 and signed to Browns practice squad on 9/22/16. Signed to Cardinals active roster on 12/13/16. 

2016: Played in three games with the Cardinals after signing off Browns practice squad and had one tackle and a special teams tackle … inactive for the first two games of the season with the Browns before being released on 9/20 … re-signed to Cleveland’s practice squad on 9/22 … signed to the Cardinals active roster on 12/13.… made NFL debut playing on special teams vs. NO (12/18) … had first career tackle @ Sea (12/24) … recorded one special teams tackle @ LAR (1/1/17).

College: Started 29 of 30 games played and totaled 269 tackles, 16.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and one INT … started three games and had 23 tackles and two sacks in 2015 before suffering season-ending injury … earned the Nagurski Trophy, Lombardi Award, Bednarik Award and Pat Tillman Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2014 after he ranked in the top five of the FBS in tackles (163), sacks (14) and forced fumbles (six) … also earned unanimous All-American honors and was named the New Mexico Bowl Defensive MVP after notching 15 tackles and two sacks in the game … played in 13 games (12 starts) as a freshman in 2013 and recorded 83 tackles and one INT.

Personal: Full name is Philip Anthony Wright III ... given the nickname ‘Scooby’ by his father … attended Cardinal Newman (Santa Rosa, CA) High School where he was named North Bay All-League Co-MVP and Redwood Empire Defensive Player of the Year … earned first-team All-State honors as a senior after being named second-team All-State as a junior … also played basketball and track … father, Phil, played football at Long Beach State and is currently the head softball coach at Santa Rosa Junior College … majored in Economy and Industry.
