Pro Career: Originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round (66th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft. Re-signed with Detroit on a one-year contract on 4/27/06 before being designated as the team’s franchise player before signing a seven-year contract extension with the Lions on 7/16/07. Traded to the Seattle Seahawks along with a fifth round pick on 3/14/09 and played two seasons in Seattle. Signed a two-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens on 3/22/10 as an unrestricted free agent. Signed a three-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts on 3/14/12 as an unrestricted free agent before agreeing to a two-year contract with the Cardinals on 3/11/15.

2008: In his sixth and final season in Detroit, started 12 of the 13 games he appeared in and totaled 66 tackles, three sacks and seven tackles for loss before being placed on injured reserve (knee) on 12/12 … had at least a partial sack in four consecutive games in Weeks 6-9 … recorded five solo tackles and two tackles for loss vs. GB (9/14) … finished with a season-high eight tackles and half of a sack @ Min (10/12); combined with LB Ernie Sims to take down Lions QB Gus Frerotte in the first quarter … garnered six tackles and a sack @ Houston (10/19), taking down Texans QB Matt Schaub on a 3rd-n-10 play in the third quarter to forced a punt … finished with seven tackles and a half -sack vs. Was (10/26), marking his third consecutive game with at least six tackles and partial sack … recorded six tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack of Bears QB Kyle Orton vs. Chi (11/2), marking his fourth straight game with at least six tackles and a partial sack … tied his season-high with eight tackles vs. Ten (11/27) ... placed on injured reserve on (12/12), forcing him to miss the final three games of the season.

2006: Started all 16 games for the third consecutive season and finished with 70 tackles, a career-high sacks (8.0), two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass defensed … after starting the first five games at left DE, flourished after he was moved to DT for the final 11 games, as he registered all 8.0 sacks in those contests … his 8.0 sacks ranked second among NFL DTs behind only Oakland’s Warren Sapp (10.0) and his 8.0 sacks over the final 12 weeks were the most in the NFL during that span … had at least a partial sack in a career-high five straight games (Games 9-13) … in the season opener vs. Sea (9/10), totaled three tackles, a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery … established a then-career high with six tackles the following week @ Chi (9/17) and matched that total two weeks later with six tackles @ StL (10/1) … with NT Shaun Cody going down to injury, moved from DE to DT and registered four tackles and a pass defensed @ Min (10/8) … made his first start at DT and recorded his first sack of the season when he took down QB J.P. 2005: Started all 16 games for the second consecutive season and finished the year with 42 tackles, a sack, four passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery … led all D-linemen with four tackles while adding a career-high two passes defensed @ TB (10/2) … recorded his third career fumble recovery in the first quarter vs. Bal (10/9) … totaled a season-high five tackles and posted his first sack of the season when he took down QB Kyle Orton for a four-yard loss in the second quarter vs. Chi (10/30) … recorded one tackle, tied his season high with two passes defensed and posted his second career forced fumble vs. Arz (11/13); forced a fumble by Cards RB Marcel Shipp in the second quarter that was recovered by Kalimba Edwards; resulting drive resulted in a Lions FG and a 19-3 lead; with the Lions leading 29-21 late in the fourth quarter, batted down a fourth-down pass attempt by Kurt Warner at the line of scrimmage that helped seal the Detroit victory … registered four tackles in three consecutive games vs. Atl (11/24), vs. Min (12/4) and @ GB (12/11).

2004: Emerged as the Lions starting left DE coming out of training camp and went on to start all 16 games on the season … registered 41 tackles (37 solo), three sacks, a safety and two fumble recoveries … posted the first fumble recovery of his career when he recovered a Donovan McNabb fumble in the fourth quarter vs. Phi (9/26) … tallied his second fumble recovery in as many games when he jumped on a Michael Vick fumble in the third quarter @ Atl (10/10) … recorded two tackles and his first career sack when he took down Kurt Warner for a five-yard loss @ NYG (10/24); forced a fumble on the play that was recovered by the Giants; marked his first career forced fumble … compiled a season-high five tackles (four solo) @ Jax (11/14) … tackled Vikings RB Onterrio Smith in the end zone for Detroit’s first safety of the season @ Min (11/21) … posted two solo tackles and a sack vs. Min (12/19) … took down Bears QB Chad Hutchinson for a four-yard loss vs. Chi (12/26).

2003: Appeared in nine games during his rookie season and finished the year with nine tackles (eight solo) and one pass defensed … missed the first two games with a leg injury suffered during the preseason and was in and out of the lineup following his return … saw time at both DT and DE … made his NFL debut and posted a solo tackle vs. Min (9/21) … netted two tackles @ Sea (11/16) … recorded a season-high four tackles (three solo) and his first career pass defensed @ KC (12/14).

Personal: Attended North Shore (Galena Park, TX) High School where he was named USA Today’s National Defensive Player of the Year an consensus first-team All-American as a senior after he recorded 215 tackles, 15.0 sacks, 22 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and four INTs … named the nation’s top linebacker by Parade and earned first-team AP All-State and Texas Sports Writers Association honors … was also named the Texas Class 5a Defensive Player of the Year … also won the state Class 5A title in discus as a junior and senior … in 2014 was one of four honorees to be inducted into the Men’s Athletics Hall of Honor at Texas, one of the most cherished athletics traditions at the university.
