NoteCARDS:

• The Cardinals sixth-round (196th overall) selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, Powell became the first Murray State player ever selected by the Cardinals and first player drafted from the school since the Jaguars picked DE Austen Lane in the fifth round (153rd overall) in 2010. Powell and Lane are the only Murray State players to be drafted in the last 17 years and Powell is the first WR from the school to ever be selected in the draft.

• Posted two games with 300+ all-purpose yards during his senior season in 2013, making him the only player at the Division I level (FBS or FCS) to accomplish that feat.

• Established Murray State career records with 2,650 receiving yards, 29 receiving TDs and 10 100-yard receiving games.

College Career: During his four seasons at Murray State, Powell started 27 of 43 games, finishing second in school history with 208 receptions and setting MSU all-time records with 2,650 yards and 29 TDs … on special teams, gained 950 yards and a TD on 34 kickoff returns and 486 yards with three TDs on 35 punt returns (13.9 avg.) … also added four rushing attempts for 42 yards, and as a gunner on special teams, he recorded 19 tackles and a forced fumble … generated 4,128 all-purpose yards, an average of 96.0 yards per game … his 94 catches for 1,213 yards in 2012 set school single-season records, while his 13 TD catches in 2013 tied Billy Hess (1968) for second in Racers annals behind Terrance Tillman (14 in 1999) … holds the school single-season (six in 2012) and career (10) records for most 100-yard receiving performances … his 208 receptions rank fifth and 2,650 receiving yards placed 10th in Ohio Valley Conference history.

2013: A finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top player in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision ranks, Powell started nine of the 10 games he appeared in and recorded 66 receptions for 837 yards and 13 TDs … on special teams, added 16 punt returns for 185 yards and a TD and 11 kickoff returns for 346 yards and a TD … ranked 13th in the nation in scoring with 90 points and placed third in the conference and 13th nationally with an average of 6.6 catches per game … his 13 TD catches tied for second on the school’s single-season record list and were good for the eighth-best total nationally … had a breakout game vs. Missouri State as he hauled in 11 passes for 155 yards and a career-best four TDs, also returning the second-half kickoff 98 yards for a TD … one of just two players at the FCS level to return both a punt and a kickoff for a TD (N.C. Central's Adrian Wilkins).

2012: Named to the College Sporting News Fabulous 50-All-Purpose squad and was an All-American first-team selection as an all-purpose player by The NFL Draft Report and the Associated Press after establishing new school single-season records for receptions and receiving yards … appeared in all 11 games with 10 starts and finished the season with 94 catches for 1,213 yards and 10 TDs ... posted a school-record six 100-yard receiving performances, including four straight ... one of the most dangerous return men in the FCS, returned 19 punts for 301 yards and two TDs and 23 kickoffs for 604 yards ... returned a punt 70 yards for a TD vs. Tennessee Tech and set an FCS record with a 100-yard punt return for a TD vs. Southeast Missouri ... added four tackles on special teams.

2011: Started eight of 11 games played and finished the year with 45 receptions for a team-high 584 yards and five TDs ... caught at least three passes in 10 of 11 games ... recorded six tackles on special teams.

2010: Appeared in all 11 games, registering three catches for 16 yards and a TD as a freshman ... caught his first career pass vs. Central Arkansas ... hauled in his first career TD catch on a nine-yard reception vs. Tennessee-Martin.

Personal: Attended Hazelwood (MO) East High School where he lettered twice while playing for former All-Pro LB Mike Jones, who became a Super Bowl hero for the Rams when he made the game-saving tackle of Kevin Dyson at the Rams 1-yard line on the final play of Super Bowl XXXIV … earned first-team All-State, all-metro and all-conference honors in leading the Spartans to a district championship as a senior when he finished the year with 45 receptions for 983 yards and 16 TDs ... garnered honorable mention all-conference honors on special teams in helping the Spartans capture the 5A state championship as a junior ... brother, Brandon Williams, was an All-Big Ten wide receiver for Wisconsin and was selected in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft by San Francisco … also lettered in track, where he was a two-time All-State selection in the 300m hurdles … majored in Advertising.
