Biography
NoteCARDS:
- Selected by the Cardinals with their second pick in the fifth round (159th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft, Nelson played in 42 games (13 starts) and recorded 74 receptions for 1,375 yards and 10 TDs in his first three seasons. Has also rushed for 120 yards and a TD on eight carries.
- His average of 18.6 yards per catch is the best in the NFL over the last three seasons (2015-17) for players with at least 50 receptions.
- In Week 2 of the 2017 season at Indianapolis, Nelson caught five passes for 120 yards (24.0 avg.) and a TD in the OT victory. The performance earned him NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.
- In 2016, played in 15 games (six starts) and surpassed his rookie numbers in every category, catching 34 passes for 568 yards and tying for the team lead with six receiving TDs. All seven of his TDs (six receiving, 1 rushing) came in the final nine games of the season.
- In Week 14 of the ’16 season at Miami, had a 56-yard TD run and an eight-yard TD catch. Became first Cardinals WR since Mal Kutner (10/24/48 vs. Boston) with both a rushing and receiving TD in the same game.
- His 80-yard TD catch at Seattle in Week 16 of the 2016 season was the longest TD reception ever by a Seahawks opponent at CenturyLink Field (which opened in 2002).
- Played in 11 games (two starts) as a rookie in 2015 and caught 11 passes for 299 yards (team-high 27.2 avg.) and two TDs. Seven of Nelson’s 11 receptions in 2015 went for 20+ yards.
- Was the fastest player at the 2015 NFL Combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.28 seconds.
