Banged-Up 'Backers Force Ryan Langford Signing

Posted Aug 18, 2017

Team waives WR Bundy to make room for yet another inside linebacker

Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby is among the inside linebackers on the roster battling injuries.

At one point in practice last week, the Cardinals had only four inside linebackers healthy enough to work.

So it wasn’t a surprise Friday – before the team hosts the Bears in a preseason game Saturday night – that the Cards made a move, signing linebacker Ryan Langford. The team waived wide receiver Marquis Bundy to make room on the roster.

Langford, 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds, was released by the Houston Texans after spending the preseason with them in 2016. He was not with a team during the season. A former college teammate of Bundy’s at New Mexico, Langford will provide some depth, at least in the short term.

Veteran starter Karlos Dansby has missed significant practice time as he battles a leg issue. Coach Bruce Arians said the Cardinals finally diagnosed the problem, and while Dansby doesn’t need as much work with his experience, he will need to get into football shape. Dansby did not practice this week and his availability for the game is in doubt.

The Cardinals will also be missing veterans Philip Wheeler (foot) and Josh Bynes (hamstring).

That leaves current starters Scooby Wright and rookie Haason Reddick, along with Zaviar Gooden and undrafted rookie Tre’Von Johnson at inside linebacker.
