The 71-yard punt return of Ted Ginn Sunday earned him NFC special teams player of the week honors.

When Ted Ginn made the first guy miss and saw that big lane, he knew what was coming next.

After struggling on both kickoff and punt returns in his first few touches with the Cardinals, the speedy wide receiver reminded everyone what he can do when he gets a head of steam Sunday against the Giants. Ginn's 71-yard fourth-quarter punt return

for a touchdown put the Cardinals ahead for good and earned him the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award.

Ginn juked cornerback Zack Bowman quickly after the catch and then screamed down the middle of the field and into the end zone. Once he reached top speed, the Giants had little chance of tracking him down.

"Once I get into the open field, it would be kind of bad if someone ran you down from the back," Ginn said. "I'm supposed to have world class speed. I just get into the open field and let my legs do the rest."

It was Ginn's third career Special Teams Player of the Week honor. His first came in 2009, when he returned two kickoffs for touchdowns against the Jets while playing for the Dolphins. The other came against the Seahawks in 2011 when Ginn returned both a kickoff and punt for a score for the 49ers.

It was the first NFC Player of the Week honor of the season for the Cardinals. They had four – quarterback Carson Palmer on offense, linebacker John Abraham and cornerback Patrick Peterson on defense and kicker Jay Feely on special teams – in 2013.
