The Cardinals agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent cornerback Tramon Williams on Sunday.

Bruce Arians promised last week the Cardinals would be bringing in players "real fast, just in case" to help bolster the current roster.

Then the injuries starting cropping up at cornerback, and it became essential.

Sunday, the Cardinals agreed to a one-year deal with veteran cornerback Tramon Williams, about 24 hours after losing cornerback to a reported ACL tear.

The Cardinals had an open roster spot available, so no further moves were necessary.

In addition to Zamort getting hurt at Saturday's Red-White practice, current starting No. 2 cornerback Justin Bethel is sitting out a couple of days with a hyperextended knee, and Elie Bouka has been sidelined since the first practice after hurting his ankle.

Zamort had been moved to first-string with Bethel out. With Zamort down, Brandon Williams is expected to take over that spot on first string as long as Bethel sits.

Tramon Williams, in his 12th season, will immediately be among the candidates for that No. 2 cornerback job across from Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson.

Tramon Williams spent the first nine years of his career with the Packers before moving to the Browns the last two years. He has 30 career interceptions has only missed six games in his time in the league.

Last week, Williams, 34, went through a pre-practice workout with General Manager Steve Keim, defensive coordinator James Bettcher and secondary coaches Nick Rapone and Kevin Ross.

The other cornerbacks on the roster are rookies Sojourn Shelton, Ryan Lewis, Gump Hayes and Daniel Gray. Safety Harlan Miller has been playing a lot of cornerback in camp thus far as well.
