Cardinals Sign Three More Picks

Posted May 21, 2014

Only first-round selection Bucannon unsigned out of seven-man draft class

The Cardinals signed three more draft picks Wednesday, all to four-year contracts: (Clockwise from top left) QB Logan Thomas, DE Ed Stinson and WR Walt Powell.

Only one draft pick is left to sign.

The Cardinals officially inked three more draftees Wednesday when fourth-round selection Logan Thomas, fifth-rounder Ed Stinson and sixth-rounder Walt Powell autographed their four-year contracts. That leaves only safety Deone Bucannon, the team’s first-round pick, as unsigned.

Bucannon’s deal is not expected to take an extended period of time given slotted contract numbers in the NFL these days.

Last week, second-round pick Troy Niklas and third-round choices Kareem Martin and John Brown signed their contracts.

The Cardinals are in the middle of organized team activities. The rookies will have a heavier load this week, since rookie minicamp begins Friday and runs through Sunday. That will include the seven draft picks, 15 undrafted rookies, a handful of other players with little experience and about 15 tryout players.

Prior to the three Wednesday signings, the NFLPA website had the Cardinals listed with about $4.57 million in salary cap space. Because only the top 51 cap numbers are figured into the team’s cap total, it is unlikely Wednesday’s signings will impact the cap.
