The Cardinals have added quarterbacks Brandon Doughty (left) and Alek Torgersen.

With a minicamp in 10 days and only two quarterbacks on the roster, the Cardinals made additions Thursday, claiming a pair of QBs from waivers.

The team was awarded Alek Torgersen – cut by the Lions this week -- and Brandon Doughty – cut by the Dolphins.

The two will fill in the depth chart behind starter Sam Bradford and backup Mike Glennon.

Doughty was a seventh-round pick of Miami in 2016 and spent the last two seasons on the Dolphins' practice squad. Torgersen, originally undrafted in 2017, has spent time with the Falcons and Redskins in addition to the Lions. Neither has appeared in an NFL regular-season game.

The Cardinals are in the midst of Phase One of offseason workouts, which including strength and conditioning work, as well as meetings. Their bonus voluntary minicamp, allowed because this is the first year of new coach Steve Wilks, runs April 17-19.

The draft – when the Cardinals are expected to select a quarterback at some point, because Thursday's claims do not preclude such a move – is April 26-28.
