Tight end Jermaine Gresham is returning to the Cardinals on a one-year contract, as is defensive tackle Red Bryant.

Neither Jermaine Gresham – who had back surgery – or Red Bryant – who signed deep into the season – arrived in Arizona last season physically where they wanted to be.

Now both veterans will have a chance to play for the Cardinals with a full offseason of prep.

Gresham, a tight end, agreed to a one-year contract over the weekend, while Bryant, a defensive tackle, signed a one-

year deal himself as the Cards continue to round out their roster.

The Gresham news leaked Sunday, including an ESPN report that he turned down at least one longer and much more lucrative opportunity elsewhere to stay with the Cardinals. Gresham had a career-low 18 catches in 2015 – in his previous five years he never had fewer than 46 catches in a season – but the Cards liked how he fit into the offense.

Gresham did average a career-best 12.4 yards a catch, gaining 223 yards and scoring a key touchdown in Seattle.

Gresham didn't sign until training camp opened, and worked into the offense slowly, especially after his injury. His return means the Cards have brought back all five tight ends on the roster: Gresham, Darren Fells, Ifeanyi Momah, Troy Niklas and Gerald Christian. Momah and Christian missed the entire season after preseason injuries.

Bryant sat out most of the season. He didn't sign until late November to help the depth on a defensive line that had suffered injuries. As of now, the Cards have kept their defensive line roster intact from a season ago. In six games, Bryant had five tackles.

The Cardinals are also bringing in a pair of outside free agents for a visit: Bengals cornerback Leon Hall and Panthers guard Amini Silatolu.
