Budda Baker Earns End-of-Season Honor

Budda Baker was named a second-team All-Pro by Pro Football Focus for his work on special teams.

Budda Baker was named a second-team All-Pro by Pro Football Focus for his work on special teams this season.

The rookie second-round pick immediately became one of the top gunners in the NFL despite playing exclusively on defense in his final two college seasons.

Baker finished the year with a team-best 16 tackles on special teams and recovered a kickoff in Washington. He was previously selected to the Pro Bowl at the position. Michael Thomas of the Miami Dolphins was given the first-team nod.

It was a strong rookie year overall for Baker, who finished with 61 tackles, two forced fumbles, a sack, a fumble recovery, three tackles for loss and six passes defensed despite starting only seven games.  Pro Football Focus gave him a grade of 84.5 for the season, which was the 20th best among safeties.

Baker was the only Cardinals' player named a first- or second-team All-Pro by PFF. Outside linebacker Chandler Jones, who led the NFL in sacks with 17, cornerback Patrick Peterson and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald figure to be the other Cardinals in contention for postseason honors in the coming weeks.
