Illinois DE the sixth-rounder

The sixth round choice is Illinois defensive end Will Davis, who, at 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, figures to be another linebacker prospect. He also has played a little tight end, making for some interesting two-way possibilities. Like last year's sixth-rounder, Chris Harrington, my guess is this will be a project-type player. Like Calais Campbell the year before, Davis had a big year in his next-to-last college season (9.5 sacks) before falling off in his last year (3.5 sacks).

UPDATE WITH A CARDINAL ANECDOTE: Seems that Davis was driving home with his girlfriend today when he hit a Cardinal. Not one of his new teammates, but an actual bird. "I looked at her and we started laughing," Davis said. "We thought it could be a sign. Then to be picked by them, it's got to be a sign. We didn't kill it, luckily. It just tapped on our hood."
