Arizona Cardinals Home: The official source of the latest Cardinals headlines, news, videos, photos, tickets, rosters and game day information

New players, possibly

Waiting here for the Beanie presser later today and watching for players to slowly stream in for pictures and physicals, a couple of player tidbits: The Cards are hoping to bring back offensive lineman Carlton Medder to the roster; Medder was an undrafted rookie who was with the team in training camp last year before messing up his elbow in a one-on-one camp drill against Kenny Iwebema.

The Cardinals will also have veteran tight end Dominique Byrd go through minicamp on a tryout basis. Byrd, a one-time draft pick of the Rams, is out of football and the Cards did look at him during USC's pro day earlier this month. The Cards already have four tight ends – Ben Patrick, Stephen Spach, Leonard Pope and Anthony Becht – so Byrd landing a spot may be a long shot. Then again, with Spach still rehabbing from knee surgery, the Cards may want to have another tight end as a body heading into camp.
