Quick Thoughts After Practice 2

One injury so far. FB Dan Krieder is day-to-day after hurting his left hamstring in the morning work. Otherwise, it was the wide receivers that seemed to have the best day. Larry Fitzgerald was, as usual, awesome. He beat DRC deep on one play in the afternoon but the Fitz/DRC practice battles are fun to watch. Those two let each other know who wins each throw. Lance Long made a great leaping grab over Jameel Dowling, although those have become routine. And Jerheme Urban was good all day. It's so clear what the deepest position is on this team, and that's not saying there aren't other deep spots. But the Cards have a lot of good receivers, probably too many to keep all on the roster. It'll be tough.

Bryant McFadden is a physical corner. He was beating on Anquan Boldin pretty hard this afternoon, at one point breaking up three straight passes. I don't think Q's strong suit is necessarily the one-on-one drills, when he can't use matchups and traffic to his advantage. But usually he can just outmuscle a DB. McFadden was up to the task today.

Finally, the sheer number of fans today was pretty special. For years I have told fans who have asked to come up on any day besides the red-white scrimmage day for autographs because it was easier to get them and the lines were shorter. That may be a thing of the past. There are just so many people now, it's impossible to get to all of them.
