Arizona Cardinals Home: The official source of the latest Cardinals headlines, news, videos, photos, tickets, rosters and game day information

Soon, even the rookies leave

Tomorrow is the last day for the rookies to stay for their extra strength and conditioning. Even John Lott (pictured below with a plaque commemorating a national strength coach of the year award while tidying up his office before vacation) is bailing out for downtime. Officially, the rookies will be done until they have to come in July 29 for physicals and the bus ride up to Flagstaff. (THURSDAY UPDATE: Turns out yesterday was the final day -- he released them early, just like the vets got.) A veteran or two will probably come in here and there -- this week I have seen Lyle Sendlein, Levi Brown and Gerald Hayes, among others, working out. We'll keep trying to generate as much news and info as possible. Farewell, by the way, to departing trainer Freddie Carabajal, the man who spent every practice working on the side with the rehabbing players. He's headed home to New Mexico to coach high school kids.
