NoteCARDS:

  • Selected by the Cardinals in the third round (98th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Williams became the first Grambling State player selected in the draft since 2006 when Dallas took DE Jason Hatcher in the third round (92nd overall).
  • On his way to earning FCS All-American honors as a senior in 2016, hit the SWAC Triple Crown in receiving by leading all conference players in receptions (90), yards (1,337) and touchdowns (11).
  • Impressed scouts with strong showings at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL. At his pro day, Williams posted a 35.5-inch vertical, did 21 reps on the bench press and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds.

College Career: Appeared in 47 games (31 starts) and finished his career with 210 receptions for 3,062 yards and 28 TDs ... recruited to Grambling State by former head coach and Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams … named a FCS All-American in his final season.

2016: As a senior, started 11 of the 12 games he appeared in and totaled 90 receptions for 1,337 yards and 11 TDs on his way to FCS All-American honors … led the SWAC in receptions, receiving yards and TD receptions … posted 100+ receiving yards in six of the 12 games he played in … had one of the biggest performances of his career playing against the University of Arizona in Tucson, posting 13 receptions for 152 yards … helped lead Grambling to a victory over North Carolina Central in the Celebration Bowl.

2015: For the second consecutive season, started 10 of 12 games he appeared in and led Tigers in receptions (64), receiving yards (1,012) and receiving TDs (10), while averaging 15.8 yards per catch … played in every single game … earned All-SWAC honors … only player in the conference with over 1,000 receiving yards and 140 yards more than next closest receiver… led the conference in receptions per game (5.3) and receiving yards per game (84.3).

2014: Appeared in 12 games with 10 starts and totaled 45 receptions for 572 yards and five TDs as a sophomore … added six rushing attempts for 25 yards and a TD.

2013: Played in seven games as a freshman, finishing the season with 11 receptions for 141 yards and a pair of TDs.

Personal: Attended Madison (LA) Preparatory Academy in Baton Rouge where he was part of school’s first ever football team ...  a two-way standout at quarterback and safety ... was the first Madison Prep student-athlete to receive an athletic scholarship ... as a sixth grader, started on defense for his middle school’s eighth grade team ... as a high school basketball team MVP, led his team to the Class B state championship ... Class B state champion in the 400-meter and 800-meter relay in track.
