NoteCARDS:

  • Arizona’s first selection in the fifth round (157th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, Holden became just the 10th Vanderbilt player ever selected by the Cardinals in the draft, and the first since the team took DB Corey Chavous in the second round (33rd overall) in 1998.
  • A three-time member of the Academic Honor Roll (2013-15), Holden was named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. In high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society.

College Career:

Appeared in 48 games with the Commodores, starting the final 35 games at tackle … played guard and both tackle spots during his career at Vanderbilt.

2016: Started all 13 games, extending his consecutive starts streak at tackle to 37 games ... played virtually every meaningful snap protecting QB Kyle Shurmur's blindside at left tackle ... helped RB Ralph Webb becoming the team's all-time leading rusher and sophomore Shurmur produce one of the finest seasons ever by a Commodore QB ... earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors for his performance vs. Ole Miss when he had three key blocks that resulted in TDs.

2015: Started all 12 games at left tackle ... projected as starting right tackle only to move to opposite tackle spot during preseason drills due to injury ... played more than 870 offensive snaps, second most on OL behind senior center Spencer Pulley ... credited with 33 pancake and 13 domination blocks during the season, and earned or shared team's offensive lineman of the week honors on three occasions.

2014: In his first year as a starter on the offensive line, played in all 12 games, starting 10 contests at right tackle.

 

2013: Appeared in 11 games, playing on the offensive line and on special teams ... played both guard and tackle during the season.

2012: Redshirted

 

Personal:

Attended Clay (Green Cove Springs, FL) High School where he was a three-year starter, earning first team All-State honors as a senior in 2012 ... also named to the Jacksonville Times-Union's prestigious Super 24 Team as a senior … while his hometown may be small (population of 6,908), his high school produced current NFL players Cliff Avril (Seattle) and Nolan Carroll (Dallas) … another successful Clay High alum is Caeleb Dressel, who won an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics as a member of the 4x100 meter freestyle relay team featuring Michael Phelps … lettered as a thrower in track & field ... member of National Honor Society chapter and achieved Eagle Scout status … father, Kevin, spent 30 years in the Navy; his brother, Kevin, is a corpsmen in the Navy, and was recently on the President’s Medical team … graduated in 2016 with a degree in Human and Organizational Development.
