Kendall Wright was here, and now he's gone.

The Cardinals released the veteran wide receiver Thursday prior to their game against the Broncos. Wright lasted not even two weeks on the roster. In his place, the Cardinals elevated rookie cornerback Deatrick Nichols from the practice squad, a move that is likely necessary with safety Tre Boston sitting out the Denver game with rib and shoulder problems and cornerback Jamar Taylor dealing with a bad back.

Wright was signed the day after to the Cards’ win in San Francisco, but he was inactive for the game last week in Minnesota – the team for which Wright played in the preseason.

Nichols had originally made the Cardinals’ 53-man roster and was cut, coincidentally, so the Cards could sign Wright in the first place.

The Cardinals have been dressing only four wide receivers as it is. Both Wright and rookie Trent Sherfield were inactive against the Vikings, with Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk, Chad Williams and J.J. Nelson serving as the wide receiver corps.
