In the aftermath of the Steelers signing linebacker James Harrison to a contract extension today, a couple of people have e-mailed me about how it could influence the talks with Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby. My guess? Probably not much.
First, there are already some questioning if Harrison could have gotten more, and I would think that thought will come from more than one place. But I don't think it would matter anyway. Reportedly, the Cards were trying to give Dansby money along the lines of what Bart Scott got from the Jets, and Dansby didn't think the two sides were close to a deal. I don't see how the Harrison deal changes the equation at all. Dansby clearly feels he is due a contract among the top players in the league. That's what is going to put a drag on these negotations.
