Alec Osborne is in his second season with the Cardinals and first as assistant defensive line coach after being promoted on 2/20/26. He originally joined the Cardinals as a defensive quality control coach on 2/12/25 following eight years at the collegiate level, including in 2024 at his alma mater, the University of Louisiana-Monroe, as inside linebackers coach.
With the Cardinals in 2025, Osborne assisted the defensive line as DL Calais Campbell started all 17 games at the age of 39 and finished with 43 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 16 QB hits, nine tackles for loss and two blocked kicks. It was his 15th season with at least 5.0 sacks. Â Â
Osborne went to Louisiana-Monroe after two seasons (2022-23) at Baylor as a defensive quality control coach where he worked with inside linebackers. In 2022, he aided in the development of LB Dillon Doyle and helped the Bears to the Armed Forces Bowl, their second-straight bowl appearance.
Prior to Baylor, Osborne served as a defensive graduate assistant at LSU for three seasons (2019-21) assisting defensive backs and both inside and outside linebackers. During LSU's National Championship season in 2019, he coached LB K'Lavon Chaisson who earned first team All-SEC honors after finishing with a career-high 60 tackles (34 solo) 13.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks one forced fumble and four passes defensed. Osborne also helped develop LB Damone Clark and CB Cordale Flott who were both drafted in the NFL.
Osborne spent the 2018 season as the defensive ends coach at McNeese State. The Cowboys defense finished the 2018 season first in the Southland Conference in yards per game (356.0) and points allowed per game (24.2). DE Chris Livings earned All-Southland Conference and All-Louisiana second-team accolades that season.
Osborne's first coaching job was as a graduate assistant at Northwestern State in 2017. He worked with the defensive line that season and helped DE's Obi Iheoma and Lyn Clark earn honorable mention All-Southland Conference honors.
He played tight end at the University of Louisiana-Monroe (2012-2016) and appeared in 36 games (22 starts), recording 18 receptions for 120 yards and a TD. Osborne was a two-year starter and earned second-team All-Louisiana honors in 2014. A Geismar, LA native, Osborne received his bachelor's degree in Finance and a master's degree in Sports Management from Louisiana-Monroe.
He and his wife, Kacey, have a son, Niles and a daughter, Madeline.
