Brent Jackson joined the Cardinals as a defensive quality control coach on 2/20/26 following four seasons (2022-25) with the Indianapolis Colts. He initially entered the NFL with the Colts in 2022 as the Tony Dungy Diversity Coaching Fellow before being promoted to defensive quality control coach where he spent the past three seasons (2023-25) helping mentor the safeties. Prior to the Colts, Jackson spent seven years coaching at the collegiate level.
Last season, the Colts recorded a takeaway in 15 of 17 games, finished 7th in the NFL in opponent rushing yards per game (101.9) and 10th in INTs (14). S Camryn Bynum totaled 81 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, eight passes defensed, a team-high four INTs, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
In 2024, Indianapolis tied for 3rd in the NFL with 17 forced fumbles. The Colts also finished tied for 7th in the league in takeaways (25) and tied for first in red zone takeaways (6). Jackson aided the defensive backs and helped S Nick Cross to a breakout season, setting career highs in tackles (145), tackles for loss (6.0), passes defensed (five), INTs (three) and a forced fumble.
In Jackson's first season with Indianapolis in 2022, the Colts finished 5th in tackles for loss (91) and opponent negative plays (31). They also tied for 8th in forced fumbles (13), tied for fourth in fumble recoveries (11) and tied for 10th in sacks (44). The Colts 44 sacks were the most by the team since 2005 (46).
Before joining the Colts coaching staff, Jackson served as a graduate assistant at Oregon in 2022 after holding the same position in 2021 at Auburn.
Jackson spent two seasons at Illinois, first as a graduate assistant working with defensive backs in 2019 before being promoted to defensive analyst in 2020. The Fighting Illini earned a bid to the 2019 Redbox Bowl, the program's first bowl appearance in five years.
He began his coaching career at his alma mater, Louisiana-Lafayette, for four seasons as a defensive analyst (2018) and defensive student assistant (2015-17). The Ragin Cajuns made postseason appearances in both 2016 and 2018 with Jackson a part of the coaching staff.
Jackson earned his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in 2018 from Louisiana and his master's degree in Kinesiology from LSU in 2020.
