Cards Participate in Architecture Competition

The Arizona Cardinals, along with the Central Arizona and Rio Salado chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), held a competition for students to design a portable hot-dog vending stand that could be used at the new Arizona Cardinals Stadium
in Glendale.

Four judges—Steve Betts (attorney, Gallagher and Kennedy), Rob Gaspard (architect, Will Bruder Architects, LTD), Michelle Acosta (student, Arizona State University), and Dev Pawar (intern architect, ART Architects)—judged the competition on March 23.

The winners are as follows:

First Place (tie): Josue Alonso, Miriam Martinez
Third Place: Gabriela Bugarin

Alonso and Martinez each received $125 for finishing first; Bugarin received $50 for placing third.

The new Arizona Cardinals Stadium, scheduled to open in 2006, will also be home to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and the 2008 Super Bowl.
