NAME: CALAIS CAMPBELL
Sunday's season finale could also be the career finale for defensive lineman Calais Campbell, who's wrapping up an impressive 18th season. Campbell hasn’t made a retirement decision and won’t make it for some time, but if this is his final game, then what a career he's had and what a homecoming he's had. Signing Campbell this offseason wasn't just a good storyline to bring him back, it was because he could still play football at a high level. He's proven that. Six and a half sacks, the second-most on the team, nine tackles for loss and two blocked kicks so far. The Cards gave up 250 rushing yards in Week 14 against the Rams, which has left a sour taste in Campbell's mouth. Look for the defense to load the box at a higher rate this time to contain LA's rushing attack. On the chance this is Campbell's final game, he'll want to go out with a bang and play like "vintage" Calais, which would be a sight to see.

NUMBER: 93
If someone would've said Michael Wilson was 93 yards away from his first 1,000-yard season, some might have been surprised. Heck, even Wilson said he wouldn't have thought this would be possible considering he only had 52 receiving yards through five games. But when it comes to making the most of an opportunity, that's exactly what Wilson was able to do. And one of his best games of the season? Against the Rams in Week 14, when he had 11 receptions for 142 yards. Considering he grew up a short distance from SoFi Stadium, it'd be a special place to make history.

NUANCE: REASON FOR OPTIMISM
No, this season didn't go as expected. There was hope that this was the year – Year 3 of Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon – the Cardinals would make the playoffs. It didn't happen. So we look ahead to next year. If you're looking for a reason for optimism, then all you need to do is look at recent history. (Truthfully, it's an extended look.) Since 1990 – 36 straight seasons – at least four teams have qualified for the playoffs that were not in the postseason the year before. In 2025, there are five such teams: 49ers, Seahawks, Bears, Jaguars, and Patriots, with the potential of a sixth if the Panthers win in Tampa Bay on Saturday. That's almost half the 14-team playoff field that will have been changed out from last season. In other words, why not the Cardinals in 2026?
