Marvin Harrison Jr. believes he and Kyler Murray have similar personalities, although, the wide receiver acknowledges, "I am definitely more reserved. It takes me a while to get out of my shell."
That reality is a crucial point as the Cardinals go into Year 2 with Harrison, and the subject of Murray's chemistry with his WR1 remains a constant. Harrison emphasized that relationship in the locker room "absolutely" translates to the field. Murray said the communication between the two is easily the biggest change since this time last year.
"As a rookie, he might've been scared of me," Murray said. "I had to get to know him a little bit and he has to feel comfortable with you. We had to go through the fire to get that relationship going and keep making strides off the field so we could feel each other on and off the field as far as what he's thinking and what I'm thinking.
"Marv and I are in a great place. Honestly, night and day from what we drafted him to now. He'll start conversations with me, I don't have to beg him to talk to me or anything like that. I love where we're at, now it's just time to go execute."
Harrison smiled when it was relayed to him that Murray thought Harrison might have been scared of him. "It's a lot better now. Not that it was bad before, but I was a little quiet."
There is a lot that goes into what Harrison is now compared to his first game as a rookie. Harrison has talked many times about being taken aback by the speed of the game, an issue he has no longer. The world is waiting to see Harrison make a jump in his game (tangibly shown through his statistics) but the much more confident Harrison isn't worried about that any longer.
He said he's comfortable with his 220-pound frame, which will help him be more physical against defensive backs. And the on-field vibe he has with his quarterback has been in a better place as well.
"Honestly I felt the expectations last year were more," Harrison said. "I am ready to remove myself from all the expectations and just play football."
