What inspired your decision to join your specific organization within the Divine 9? My mentor was a Kappa so that was my initial exposure to Greek Life. I participated in events and community service while in high school. When I got to college I already knew that's what I wanted to do.
In what ways has being a part of this organization positively impacted your life? Created a brotherhood that I never had growing up. My line brothers were all in my wedding and my ace was my best man. I have also learned a lot about myself through the lessons that I garnered through being a Kappa Man.
Could you share insights about your organization's mission and what you'd like others to know? Achievement in every field of human endeavor. Kappa strives to push each member to pursue excellence in every area of their lives.
Reflecting on the broader impact, what significance does joining a Divine 9 organization hold for both the black community and the global community? It encourages honorable achievement in every field of human endeavor. It also inspires service in the public interest. It creates mentorship opportunities and role models in communities and exposes youth to successful black individuals.
How would you describe the experience of being part of an organization with a legacy of over a century of black excellence? Kappa Alpha Psi's fundamental purpose is achievement. A brotherhood of achievers that have pushed each other in their respective fields is a component of my fraternity that I cherish.
What advice do you have for individuals who are interested in becoming members of the Divine 9? Research each organization and the history of the Divine 9. Find what organizations resonate with your beliefs and values. Then reach out to a local chapter to discuss your interest and for information about membership intake.
How did your experience in your organization play a role in your journey to get you where you are today? The lessons I've learned about resiliency, altruism and leadership have molded me into the man I am now today. Also a brotherhood that I can lean on through difficult times has been instrumental on my journey.
How do you feel the Cardinals continue to share those same values/experiences? The people in this organization really take pride in representing the Cardinals in a positive way. The connected community that way have allows people to lean on each other so that we can persevere tough days.
