The Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is honoring the Arizona Cardinals "Civics Matters Arizona" initiative with the 2025 Governors' Award during this year's ceremony on Saturday evening.

Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwill will accept the award on behalf of the club. Lead producer Jianyu (Jay) Yang, staff writer/reporter Zach Gershman and others on the Cardinals content, creative and brand team are also being recognized for their efforts in creating innovative content highlighting the program including a five-minute video titled Arizona Cardinals Fourth Annual Civics Matters Trip.

ABOUT THE AWARD: The Governors' Award is the highest honor an individual, organization or company can receive from the Rocky Mountain Emmys. It recognizes excellence and significant community impact in areas outside those covered in individual craft or program categories.

ABOUT CIVICS MATTERS: Launched in 2022, Civics Matters Arizona is a civics education initiative that flies 275 high school students—many from Title I schools—aboard the Arizona Cardinals' team plane for an all-expenses-paid, immersive trip to Washington, D.C. With exclusive access to institutions such as the U.S. Capitol and opportunities to meet national leaders, students gain first-hand insight into democracy and their role within it. The program empowers both students and teachers to return home as catalysts for civic engagement in their communities.
