Snap Judgments For The Saints Game

Lots of Rabbit Taylor-Demerson as Cardinals lean into three safeties

The known was that Jonathan Gannon and Nick Rallis liked their three-safety combination. It was clear Rabbit Taylor-Demerson was going to get a chance at playing time even with Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson in the lineup. That point was driven home Sunday against the Saints.

Taylor-Demerson played 50 of the 75 snaps. A big total, but even more telling when both Baker and Thompson each played every single one of the 75 snaps. To go three-safety 67 percent of the time is noticeable, especially when two cornerbacks, Garrett Williams and Max Melton, also played 100 percent of the time.

(It was the first time Williams had ever played 100 percent of the time, a nod to Gannon's point in camp that they need to keep him on the field all the time.)

Cornerback Will Johnson played 45 snaps himself.

"When the offense got that 3-and-out, we were just waiting." an excited Taylor-Demerson said after the game. "We knew it was going to be a four-quarter battle, and we knew it would come down to (the defense)."

That defense is going to have a lot of three-safety looks, quite clearly.

It was also interesting to note that veteran defensive linemen Calais Campbell (33 snaps) and Dalvin Tomlinson (25) had their percentage low because of all the plays the Saints ran. Campbell said his sweet spot for snaps to stay effective was about 30 to 35, but in New Orleans, that meant his lowest percentage of playing time in a game since 2022.
