One of the parts of the Scouting Combine that remains kind of funny to me is the constant questions of players of "did you meet with (fill in the team.)" Especially if it is a position of need (which is of whom reporters are asking the questions), the answer is always going to be yes -- or it will be a yes by the time we get to the draft in April.
That's the whole point of this event and these few months.
Yes, the running and jumping is on TV, and the teams will look at those results. They will write down the body measurements. But the Combine is mostly for two things primarily: medical checks, and to meet with these players face to face. There are 40 of those meetings in a formal setting, and teams will meet with a ton more players informally.
That doesn't include meetings at the Senior Bowl, at Pro Days, on 30 visits to NFL facilities, or any private workouts a team sets up.
Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson spoke Friday morning, and he was asked if he had met with a particular team a bunch of times, often with a quick follow-up about having a potential teammate. So Tyson ended up talking about lining up with Chris Olave and what it would be like to catch passes from Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. All of which he said would be "amazing," and you probably aren't going to say anything different. Players usually like to play with good teammates, and Tyson knows he could play anywhere.
So yes, the Cardinals talked to (or will talk to) David Bailey and Reuben Bain Jr. and Arvell Reese. And Ty Simpson and Garrett Nussmeier. And Francis Mauigoa and Spencer Fano. I don't have the Cardinals list of meetings. But I promise it will happen.
