Valley Lutheran RB Dimitri O'Brien Named High School Player-of-the-Week

Valley Lutheran running back Dimitri O'Brien has been named this week's Arizona Cardinals and Wells Fargo "High School Player-of-the-Week."

O'Brien carried the ball 15 times for 285 yards (19.0 yard avg.) and five touchdowns in the 52-13 win against Tucson Tanque Verde High School last week. He also ran in three two-point conversions and kicked two extra points in the victory.

The eighth-year Arizona Cardinals Football Club "Player-of-the-Week" award, presented by Wells Fargo, is selected by a local sports panel consisting of Cardinals Director of Community Relations Luis Zendejas, Community Relations Coordinator Sheldon Meeks, NBC-12 sports reporter Bruce Cooper, 16-year Arizona high school football official Bob Ferreira, AIA Director of Media Marketing Brian Bolitho, Channel 3 sports anchor Brad Cesmat, 1060 AM radio host Dan Manucci, and Wells Fargo representative Jeff Smith.

A football plaque acknowledging the award will be presented to O'Brien by a Cardinals alumnus at a ceremony at Valley Lutheran High School (5199 N. 7th Avenue, Phoenix) on Thursday, October 14 at 9:35 a.m. The Flames host Bagdad High School on Friday night.
