Name: Suzanne Alipourian-Frascogna

Current Profession(s): COO at the United Aviate Academy

Please describe your role(s) in your profession(s): I lead the strategic planning and operational delivery for United Airline's Aviate Academy program in Goodyear, Arizona. This includes Flight Operations, Aircraft Maintenance, Facility Maintenance and Safety, Security & Compliance.

Please describe your pathway to your current profession(s): I started my career at O'Hare as a passenger service agent. Over time, I progressed into a variety of roles and at the age of 24 became the first female airport manager for Scandinavian Airlines at ORD. I moved to the UAE in 2007 to work on a number of aviation related programs, including leading the opening of new airport terminals, lounges, a US CBP preclearance facility, as well as the management of over 500 airport employees.  On returning to the USA, I took on a role overseeing the financial and operational performance of 29 airports in the Americas, Europe and North Africa. I've always had a passion for aviation and this unique opportunity presented itself to work as the COO at UAA. I was excited about the possibility to develop students into future pilots working for United Airlines.

What is your education/training background? I have a Bachelor of Science degree, an Associate of Arts in French Language & Literature. I have continued my education throughout my career and hold certifications in Diversity & Inclusion, Airport Management, Emergency Response Planning and other aviation related qualifications.

Advice you'd give to your younger self: Be proud of your culture and continue to question the status quo.

Who has influenced you? It is hard for me to name one person specifically. Growing up with a large number of strong females around me has shaped me from a young age. I have seen these women overcome extremely difficult life obstacles and demonstrate to me multiple times that you can do anything you put your mind to.

Tell us about anything you are passionate about outside of your profession(s): I am a member of the National Charity League (NCL) and I am passionate about volunteering my time in the community to those in need. In addition, speaking to younger students about the possibilities the future holds for them and encouraging them to break down barriers.
