As the Cardinals digest the new kickoff rules in the NFL, they also continue to add players that can help on special teams.

Linebacker Markus Bailey, formerly with the Bengals, inked a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Bailey, a one-time seventh-round pick in 2020, played 60 games for Cincinnati, starting four games with half a sack and four pass deflections in a reserve role.

At inside linebacker, the Cardinals already signed Mack Wilson Sr. as a free agent this season, as well as re-signing Krys Barnes. Bailey could battle for the vacant inside spot/special teams role held by Ezekiel Turner, who left as a free agent and signed with the 49ers. Bailey had 20 special teams tackles the past two seasons.

The Cardinals also reportedly had veteran wide receiver Zay Jones in for a free-agent visit Tuesday. Jones was recently released by the Jaguars in a cost-cutting move.

Veterans are in the middle of Phase Two voluntary work. Rookies arrive Thursday for rookie minicamp, which begins Friday.
