Agua Fria High School kick returner/punt returner Leandre Vaughn has been named this week's Arizona Cardinals and Wells Fargo "High School Player-of-the-Week."
Vaughn totaled 486 all-purpose yards for the Owls in a 47-21 loss last Friday night against Bradshaw Mountain High School. He had a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and an 86-yard punt return for a touchdown.
The eighth-year Arizona Cardinals Football Club "Player-of-the-Week" award, presented by Wells Fargo, is selected by a local sports panel consisting of Cardinals Director of Community Relations Luis Zendejas, Community Relations Coordinator Sheldon Meeks, NBC-12 sports reporter Bruce Cooper, 16-year Arizona high school football official Bob Ferreira, AIA Director of Media Marketing Brian Bolitho, Channel 3 sports anchor Brad Cesmat, 1060 AM radio host Dan Manucci, and Wells Fargo representative Jeff Smith.
A football plaque acknowledging the award will be presented to Vaughn by a Cardinals alumnus at a ceremony at Agua Fria High School (530 E. Riley Drive, Avondale) on Friday, November 12 at 7:10 a.m.
