The Cardinals have their coach. What does that mean? It means they have direction after a month-long search, but beyond that, it's wait-and-see. That's always the case.
But the selection of Mike LaFleur seems to have promise. I know it's not the type of coach every fan wanted, but there is no such thing; just like there is no consensus on who the quarterback should be, or many other questions fans like to chew upon. Some wanted an experienced coach, some opposed that.
We will know a lot more Tuesday, when LaFleur first is introduced to the public at a noon press conference. Not everything, of course. He will be asked about the QB, my guess is there will be nothing concrete said about that. Not yet. He'll be asked about his coordinators, and while there is an outside possibility he could have someone to talk about specifically, it's probable that will be about working hard to put together a staff as quickly as possible.
Personally I am encouraged by the hire (I do want to know who ends up as the defensive coordinator) because I like the track record of Sean McVay offensive coordinators and I love the idea he has been learning in the orbits of both McVay and Kyle Shanahan during his career now that they are going to be across the field from him twice a season.
There's a new era in town.
