Cardinals Host Kids Camp

For the third consecutive year, the Arizona Cardinals Football Club hosted a kids camp for Dairy Management, Inc. and the Arizona Milk Producers Tuesday morning at the Cardinals Training Facility in Tempe. Cardinals tight end Adam Bergen, Cardinals cheerleaders, Cardinals mascot Big Red and Daisy the Dairy Cow assisted with the two-hour long camp.

The students chosen to participate in the camp were winners from the Arizona Cardinals and the Arizona Milk Producers 3-A-Day promotion held at Fry's grocery stores throughout the Valley that ran during the month of September. The winners purchased milk, yogurt or cheese with their Fry's loyalty card and were then given an entry form to mail to Arizona Milk Producers.

"With the Maricopa County Contest the Arizona Milk Producers received over 170,000 entries. Four winners were randomly selected across the state, and actually one of the winners didn't have any children so he shared his winning entry with his nephew," said Joanne Stevens from Arizona Milk Producers on the selection process. "Then we made arrangements with each school for the camp."

The camp winners included Wheeler Harris from Vistancia Elementary, Jessica Duet from Horizon Community Learning Center, Jeremy Passe from Emanuel Lutheran School, and Nathan Horton from Hull Elementary School. The winners were then able to invite their classes to participate in the camp.

Cardinals Cheerleaders Megan and Tara spoke to the group of students about the importance of a healthy diet and drinking milk.

In addition Bergen addressed the group on the significance of having healthy bones as professional athlete.

"This is just a wonderful opportunity for children to come out and experience something they wouldn't normally be able to do in a lifetime," added Stevens.

The Arizona Cardinals Football Club and DMI held a two part promotion throughout the season, both inside and outside of Maricopa County. The kids that participated in the camp on Tuesday were part of the promotion inside Maricopa County. To conclude this part of the promotion, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will visit two Valley elementary schools to speak to students.

In addition, the grand prize winner of the promotion outside Maricopa County won tickets to a Cardinals game during the 2006 season.
