Cardinals Shuffle Offensive Line With Two Starters Out

Walter Nolen III returns to play for defensive line

HOUSTON -- The offensive line is going to look different, but the Cardinals don't have a choice.

With starting left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. and starting left guard Evan Brown both out for Sunday's game against the Texans, rookie Josh Fryar is expected to get his first NFL start at left tackle, with Jon Gaines II getting his second NFL start at left guard.

Center Hjalte Froholdt remains the constant. Right tackle is Kelvin Beachum, who replaced the injured-for-the-season Jonah Williams. Right guard is Isaiah Adams, who began the year as starter, was benched when Will Hernandez returned, and then retook the job once Hernandez suffered his own season-ending injury.

The Cardinals also remain thin at wide receiver behind the streaking Michael Wilson. The good news is defensive lineman Walter Nolen III has returned to the lineup after missing time with a knee injury.

The Cardinals' full inactive list:

  • CB Max Melton (heel)
  • WR Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel)
  • S Jalen Thompson (hamstring)
  • S Rabbit Taylor-Demerson (ankle)
  • OL Evan Brown (personal)
  • OL Paris Johnson Jr. (knee)
  • WR Xavier Weaver (hamstring)
