As the coaching carousel began in earnest on Tuesday and the Cardinals were in their first full day of a head coaching search, various reports had the team extending interview requests to four potential candidates:
- Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who was the Cardinals' DC under Kliff Kingsbury;
- 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh;
- Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver;
- Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak;
- Patriots passing game coordinator Thomas Brown.
The first round of interviews must be conducted virtually, per NFL rules. If the interviews are taken, the Cardinals can talk to all but Saleh this week, since the Broncos and Seahawks are on byes. Coaches on Wild Card teams like the 49ers need to wait until next week.
In-person interviews can't begin before Jan. 19.
With the news the Ravens fired John Harbaugh on Tuesday, there are six other teams aside from the Cardinals with head coach openings: Ravens, Giants, Titans, Falcons, Browns, and Raiders.
