Biography

NoteCARDS:

  • A two-time Pro Bowl selection (2013; 2016), joined the Cardinals in 2021 after 14 seasons with the Lions (2014-20), Broncos (2007-13) and Falcons (2007).
  • Has made 373-of-448 FG attempts (83.3%) and 555-of-570 PATs (97.4%) in his 233 career games after entering the league as an undrafted rookie free agent with Detroit in 2006.
  • Ranks third among active NFL players with 1,674 career points, trailing only kickers Robbie Gould (1,961) and Mason Crosby (1,918). In 2022, became just the 21st player in NFL history – and just the third active player – to reach 1,600+ career points.
  • Holds NFL records for most career FGs of 50+ yards (71), consecutive made FGs of 50+ yards (14), consecutive FGs conversions of 55+ yards (seven) and previously held the league record for the longest FG made (64 yards). Prater (2) also joins Sebastian Janikowski (2), Justin Tucker (2), Greg Zuerlein (3) and Brett Maher (4) as the only players in NFL history with multiple made FGs of 60+ yards.
  • Has made 71-of-95 FG attempts from 50+ yards and his 74.7% success rate is the highest in NFL history (min. 40 attempts). His six career FGs of 59+ yards are the most in NFL history as are his nine seasons with at least five made FGs of 50+ yards.
  • In just 30 games played in two seasons (2021-22) with Arizona, ranks second in franchise history with 12 made FGs of 50+ yards - trailing only Neil Rackers (16 in 100 games played).
  • In Cardinals history, a player has had at least five made FGs of 50+ yards in a season four times, and Prater is responsible for two of those campaigns (7 in 2021; 5 in 2022).
  • In his first season with Arizona in 2021, established a franchise record and tied his career high with seven made FGs of 50+ yards during the regular season, including a franchise record 62-yarder in Week 2 vs. Minnesota. In the Wild Card matchup vs. the Rams, connected on the longest FG (55 yards) in franchise postseason history.
  • Ended the 2021 season with 137 total points (30 FG, 47 PAT), the second-highest single-season total in franchise history. It was his 11th career season with 100+ points, trailing only Mason Crosby (15) and Robbie Gould (12) among active players.
  • Holds the franchise record for longest FG with Arizona (62 yards), Denver (64) and Detroit (59, twice).
  • Has connected on all 16 game-winning FG attempts with two minutes or less remaining in the fourth quarter and OT (11-of-11 in regulation and 5-of-5 in OT). Most recent game-winner came with Detroit when he connected on a 59-yarder as time expired to give the Lions a 30-27 victory vs. Washington in Week 10 of the 2020 season.
  • Named Special Teams Player of the Month four times and Special Teams Player of the Week 14 times, trailing only Adam Vinatieri (19) for the most "Special Teams Player of the Week" awards in NFL history by a kicker. Named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week twice in 2020 (Weeks 3 and 10) and twice in 2021 (Weeks 6 and 17).
