THE STORY: LOS ANGELES - In a game which featured two bright offensive minded head coaches, it was the defenses that controlled most of the game. Ultimately, it was the Cardinals who pulled off the thrilling 18-16 victory at SoFi Stadium.

Chad Ryland was perfect. A 43-yard kick from Ryland at the buzzer gave the Cardinals their second win of the year.

It seemed like the Rams were going to snatch away the victory from the Cardinals.

The Cardinals defense held on until the final drive. Puka Nacua created the biggest play of the game, a reception for 42 yards, and set up what turned out to be the game-tying score. Matthew Stafford connected with Colby Parkinson for a five-yard touchdown.

Punter Ethan Evans, who was filling in for Rams kicker Blake Grupe, nailed through the PAT to give the Rams the lead.

After Jalen Brooks made an impressive 21-yard grab with a Josh Wallace unnecessary roughness penalty tacked on, the Cardinals found themselves in position for Ryland to be the hero. He was perfect, going 6-for-6 on field goal attempts.
