Four More On Covid List, And Thursday Before The Cowboys

Conner, Fotu, Daniels, Washington in protocol

It isn't a complete shock after wide receiver Andy Isabella went on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, but the Cardinals put four more on there Thursday according to the official NFL Transactions list: RB James Conner, TE Darrell Daniels, DL Leki Fotu and S Charles Washington. The name that catches the attention there is Fotu, given all the injuries the team is dealing with on the line. Yes, the Cards signed three more defensive linemen this week and it is only a preseason game Friday, but you'd love to have Fotu get the chance at some preseason reps.

As a reminder, J.J. Watt, Jordan Phillips, Rashard Lawrence and Zach Allen were all down already.

-- We'll see exactly who plays Friday. I never really thought we'd see Conner, for instance. I know Kliff Kingsbury said Kyler Murray would play, but after individual drills Wednesday I don't remember Murray taking a snap in anything team-related. If Murray plays, you have to think it won't be much at all.

-- It was interesting to hear Kingsbury acknowledge he tried too hard to hide the offense in his first preseason in 2019, and that he wouldn't do it again. But he soon after said the Cards won't show much, and if the Cardinals don't play a lot of key guys anyway, it may not matter.

-- Again, because they are starters they likely won't be out there a ton, but I don't know if there is anything I want to see more than the Zaven Collins-Isaiah Simmons combo. One game is one game, but let's face it, Collins' play is going to be a storyline every week.

-- Josh Jones will get the reps at right guard since Justin Murray and Brian Winters are still out, but Kingsbury – while acknowledging Jones is getting better – certainly didn't sound like Murray or Winters were losing any significant ground in the battle to start there.

-- I know this is what people want – lots of Eno Benjamin. I think you'll finally see that. Plus Jonathan Ward. But Eno will get his first significant snaps in a game since ASU.

Sorry this isn't longer, but it's been a long week. A long camp. But football is here.
