Kyler Murray Inactive For Cardinals Against Colts, Jacoby Brissett To Start At QB

Offensive line at full health for first time this season

INDIANAPOLIS -- Kyler Murray will not play against the Colts on Sunday.

The quarterback is inactive for the Cardinals with his lingering foot injury, meaning Jacoby Brissett will get the start against his former team. Kedon Slovis will be Brissett's backup. Murray is a straight inactive, so he will not serve as an emergency third QB.

Murray hurt his foot against the Titans last week and left the game for a play. He returned to play 15 more snaps, but was limited in his ability. He sat out two practices this week before working some on Friday. He had been listed originally as questionable.

NFL Network reported that Murray has a version of a Lisfranc injury and could miss more than one game.

This will be the first game Murray has missed since returning from his ACL injury in 2023. It will be the 19th game he has missed in his seven-year career, playing in 87. The Cardinals return home next week for a game against the Packers before getting a weekend off with their bye.

The Colts lost their best cornerback in pregame warmups, Charvarius Ward, when he collided with a teammate and suffered a concussion.

The Cardinals' full inactive list:

  • QB Kyler Murray (foot)
  • CB Elijah Jones
  • DL Darius Robinson (pectoral)
  • OL Demontrey Jacobs
  • OL Josh Fryar
  • WR Xavier Weaver
  • DL Bilal Nichols (personal)
