The Arizona Cardinals selected Washington cornerback Byron Murphy with the first pick of the second round and overall no. 33 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on Friday. After a redshirt season in 2016, Murphy started all 20 games he appeared in over final two seasons (2017-18) with the Huskies. As a senior in 2018, Murphy recorded 58 tackles, four interceptions, 17 passes defended, a forced fumble and 4.0 tackles for loss. He is the 19th Husky player ever selected by the Cardinals. Murphy is a local product and was teammates with Cardinals WR Christian Kirk at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale.
