- Selected by the Cardinals with the final pick in the seventh round (254th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft, Wilson was the draft's Mr. Irrelevant, the title bestowed each year on the last pick of the draft. Arizona's selection of Wilson marked the fourth time the team had the final pick in the NFL Draft: 2015-TE Gerald Christian (256th overall); 2011-TE Tevita Ofahengaue (246th overall); 1948-G Bill Fischer (300th overall).
- Led all TEs in the NCAA FBS in receiving yards (965) and receptions per game (5.0) in 2018.
- Wilson's father, Chris, was a two-time team captain as a defensive lineman at Oklahoma and was drafted by the Bears in 1992. He went into coaching in 1993 and spent the last three seasons (2016-18) as the Eagles defensive line coach. He previously completed a minority coaching internship with the Cardinals in 1997.
